Formally know as the Scout Fellowship, 1st Abbots Langley Scout group is privileged to have a dedicated SAS linked directly to the group. North Watford District has an SAS but this helps all the groups within North Watford.
The SAS is a follow on section from when young adults within the Scout movement left Ventures at around 20 years old - Ventures preceded Explorers/Network. Many SAS members have gone through the Scout or Guiding movement and, as adults, still enjoy scouting and are keen to contribute still. Other members are parents of children involved in Scouts, or people that just enjoy the scouting ethos.
We support the group in a variety of ways, for example building and running a base at the Green Beret annual Scout Competition. Last year we safely saw 110 teams over our assault course and the competition is growing each year. You may have seen us helping at the Group family camps either cooking, running activities or just generally helping. The SAS play a major part in the cooking and selling of hot dogs at the Abbots Langley Carnival every June and this all raises funds for the group.
However, we also enjoy the outdoor life with weekends away walking / canoeing / cycling etc. Some of our members are qualified instructors, others have many years of experience to offer. We are a group of mixed abilities and ages. Anyone over 18 years old is welcome and there is no upper age limit.
