Explorer Scouts (Age 14yrs – 18yrs)

Explorers are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with support and guidance from leaders. The section also includes the Young Leaders' Scheme, where young people are able to take on a leadership role in one of the younger sections.

There is wider scope for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, performing, parascending, mountaineering and expeditions.

Young Leaders (Age 14yrs – 18yrs)

The Young Leaders' Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. All leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of an Explorer Scout Young Leaders' Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section.

The Young Leaders' Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their awards.

Abbo's Explorer Scout Unit meet on a Tuesday at our HQ in Langley Road. The Unit is a part of the District organisation and is one of a number of units in the North Watford area. The Unit is mainly attended by past scouts of the Group but all are welcome including youngsters with no scouting experience. The section has a strong outdoor element and Albatross also meet up with the other units in the District for various adventurous activities, competitions and events.
