Scouting activities carrying on under the restrictions advised by the Scout Associates (Scouting HQ Regulations) and where we can we will invite new members from our joining list and will look to bring the section back up to fuill strength as soon as we can.

1st Abbots Langley Exec

The Executive are the poor souls that no-one in the sections seems to know much about, and that's as it should be, but they run all the mundane and sometimes not so mundane functions of the group setting diary dates discussing the incoming policies of the scout movement running the finances and maintenance schedule and reporting to the parents, members and helpers at the AGM.


The executive committee is comprised of scouters, elected members and leader nominated individuals normally from associated sections or interested individuals and we are again fortunate to a variety of experienced people with a long background with the group and a constant welcome for new members with

I grew up in West London and belonged to the 1st Chiswick Scout Group and scouting became a huge beneficial influence on me throughout my early years. I moved to Abbots Langley in 1987 with my wife Aisling and we were lucky enough to have three sons who we were all invested as 1st Abbots Langley Beavers. I first helped out at Beavers in 1998 and subsequently got more involved as our three boys moved through each section. Aisling was a Cub leader for several years. I attended many fantastic camps over the years and helped out at as many section evenings as I could. I joined the Executive Committee in 2005 and got involved in the maintenance of the HQ and was asked to be Chairman in 2012. I chair our twice monthly Executive Meetings that organise all of the group events in our scouting calendar and help fundraise to support our sections and maintain the HQ so that scouting for our young people in Abbots Langley and beyond can continue for the future generations.

Pauline has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2004, when she joined to become the newsletter Editor of Woodsmoke. In her time with the group she has taken on the task of catering for various events, and the organisation of the popular Family camp. Also as a member of the Active Support she supports the group at carnival and other fundraising events. She has now stepped into the shoes of the Treasurer to support the group in it’s day to day running.
